Woman Refuses to Pull Over for Police while DUI
Posted By Phoenix DUI Lawyer

Police in Phoenix were finally able to stop a woman suspecting ofdriving under the influence after she refused to pull over last Tuesday. They initially received a call about a woman driving the wrong way down 101; when police caught up to her around Cave Creek Road the woman's truck was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes.

A joint effort between the Scottsdale Police Department and the Department of Public Safety was able to control traffic on 101 while other officers pursued the woman. The woman, undeterred by the chase, was finally stopped when officers employed a PIT (pursuit intervention technique) after trying stop sticks first.

The driver, Amber Nevel, 42, will probably face charges of unlawful flight, criminal damage, endangerment and DUI. Luckily nobody was injured in the vehicle chase on Tuesday.

31 Year Old Charged with DUI and Assault
Posted By Phoenix DUI Lawyer

In Phoenix, a 31 year old man is now facing charged if DUI and aggravated assault.  Police say that while driving drunk, the man crashed his car into a canal.

The canal was located near 67th Avenue and Buckeye Road.  Police report that the vehicle was seriously damaged and that the accident took place last Friday at around 7:00 PM.  The officer that arrived at the scene of the accident said that three people were inside the car, but after the accident, they fled the scene.  They were later picked up by a person driving a white SUV.

Witnesses that saw the accident gave police a description of the white SUV, which was tracked down a short time later.  When police found the driver of the SUV, he told them where he took the three individuals.  Police went to the address and found all three at the residence with minor injuries. They were all escorted to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the car had a cut on his head and also had a BAC of 0.146%, which is well above the state's legal blood alcohol limit.  Aside from being charged with DUI, the driver is also facing charges for leaving the scene of an accident as well as endangerment.

Phoenix Police Officer Faces Drunk Driving Charges
Posted By Phoenix DUI Lawyer

A Phoenix police officer has been charged with DUI and failure to obey an officer following a incident that took place January 3.

At about 10:30 a.m. on January 3, a Gilbert police officer found Seth Samuel Castillo of the Phoenix Police Department slumped over the passenger seat, unconscious behind the wheel of this jeep. The Gilbert officer made several attempts to rouse Castillo but to no avail. Once Castillo woke up, the officer ordered him to step out of the car and place his hands on the hood of the vehicle.

In his report the officer said Castillo made a motion like he was reaching for something around his wasit, instead of putting them on the vehicle. Fearing that Castillo was reaching for a weapon and unaware that he was a police officer, the officer tasered Castillo. It wasn't until Castillo had fallen to the ground that he told the officer he was an off-duty Phoenix police officer.

Castillo eventually admitted that he had consumed two 24-ounce beers and took Ritalin, a prescription drug. Lab results indicated Castillo's blood alcohol concentration at the time of the incident was .172, more than twice the legal limit.

Despite his charges-one for DUI and one for failure to obey an officer-Castillo is still on active duty while both the criminal and internal investigations are underway.
