Mother of Phoenix Suns Star Arrested for DUI
Posted By Phoenix DUI Lawyer

In the city of Scottsdale, it was announced that the mother of Phoenix Suns star, Amar'e Stoudemire, was arrested for driving under the influence this past Sunday.  Police say that they saw a black Lincoln Navigator straddle two traffic lanes near Shea Boulevard so they conducted a DUI stop.

When they pulled the car over, they found Carrie Stoudemire behind the wheel.  Police say that they asked to see her driver's license and learned that an ignition interlock was needed by Stoudemire at all times.  The device is meant to stop drunk drivers from operating motor vehicles.

Stoudemire told police that she did not need an interlock device because she was driving a rental car.  She insisted that she was not under the influence, but officers said her eyes appeared "watery and glossy".

When a second officer arrived, Stoudemire was asked to perform field sobriety tests.  She refused, so she was handcuffed, placed in the back of a police car and escorted to a local police station.

  Cardinals Player Arrested for DUI
Posted By Phoenix DUI Lawyer

An NFL player who recently signed with the Arizona Cardinals was arrested in California on suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to the California Highway Patrol Officer, Linebacker Joey Porter was taken into custody after he refused to provide the officer with his driver's license. The police report says Porter eventually got out of his car, but was in a confrontational manner, and even slapped the officer's hand away when the officer tried to unlock the car door while the window was rolled down. Porter, who police say smelled strongly of alcohol, is also accused of failing to comply with the officer's orders when asked to get on the ground.

In addition to facing DUI charges, Porter has also been accused of assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.
