According to local news reports, an officer with the Phoenix Police Department was recently detained for suspicion of aggravated DUI. Sources say Officer B.G. was pulled over while leaving the Phoenix International Raceway where an event had just taken place. While driving, his actions raised suspicion, prompting officers to pull him over and perform a
Breathalyzer test. The results of the test showed that Officer B.G. was intoxicated as his result was above the state's legal limit of 0.08%.
Since he had his 7-year-old son with him at the time of his arrest, the offense was increased in severity. Instead of being arrested for DUI, he was arrested for aggravated DUI, which is a class six felony in the state of Arizona. Any time that someone has committed a crime in the presence of a child under the age of 15, the charge is increased to a felony. Although he was not taken into custody, only cited, he has been placed on administrative leave until the results of his blood work are returned.
