Ignition Interlock Device Laws May Change

While all states take drunk driving seriously, some states have more stringent laws on the books. Arizona is working hard to prevent drunk driving in its state by enacting a new law this year.
In most states a first-time offender is thrown into jail for a few hours and will be sentenced to take a drug and alcohol course. In addition to these and other fines, first-time offenders in Arizona will have to have an ignition interlock device installed in their vehicles. This is a device that checks your blood-alcohol level before starting the vehicle. If you have a certain amount of alcohol in your body than the car will not start at all.
While some are saying that this is too drastic for first-time offenders, there are others that support the new law. However, research shows that a high number of offenders will drink and drive again despite their initial arrest.
