Drunk Driver Gets Charged Even Though Accident May Not Have Been His Fault
Phoenix police caught up a man suspected of hitting and killing a pedestrian last Wednesday. The suspect is now being held without bail in Arizona. According to reports, the 25-year-old suspect was heading northbound on a busy roadway when he struck a 58-year-old woman. He then kept going without checking to see if she was okay. Based on a description provided by several eyewitnesses, police were able to catch the young driver who still showed signs of alcohol impairment when he was stopped. He was charged with causing the DUI accident as well as
leaving the scene of an accident.
Although police say that the suspect was intoxicated, some eyewitnesses' reports state that the older woman may have failed to yield the right of way. At the time that she was crossing, the driver actually had a green light which means he had the right to drive forward. Yet, his intoxication combined with his leaving the scene of an accident led police to file charges against him anyway.
