Police in Arizona were kept busy from Thanksgiving to the end of the year as reports show that 4,100 drivers were arrested for DUI over the holiday season. This figure is higher than expected and notes a considerable increase from last year. In total, 250 more people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence this year compared to last.
Thanks to the efforts of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, patrols across the state worked together to conduct a major DUI sweep. Both local and state police officers patrolled the roadways during the holidays when drivers are known to drink and drive. Of those that were arrested for DUI, 370 had prior convictions for related and unrelated drinking and driving crimes.
