A young man has pleaded guilty to the DUI accident that took the life of a paramedic in Salt Lake City, Utah. Due to his plea, he could spend up to 16 years in jail under state law, legal experts say. G.P.G., 27, was driving on May 22, 2011 when he struck a vehicle in front of him. It was driven by 31-year-old J.B., a local paramedic. Although the suspect fled the scene of the DUI accident, he was eventually captured by police a few days later. He was then charged with driving under the influence and automobile homicide.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Family members say that he was a student at the University of Utah and had hopes of working for FEMA in the future.
