Labor Day DUI Numbers are In
Labor Day tends to be a weekend of parties, barbeques and socializing. However, this particular weekend is also well-known for high incidences of driving under the influence (DUI), which has led police to crack down on drunk drivers throughout the state of Arizona.
Statewide, there were 617 DUI arrests from Thursday till Tuesday say police. While the number seems high, it is important to note that the number of DUI arrests dropped compared to last year in which police arrested 949 individuals across the state.
When asked about the numbers, law enforcement agencies said that there were 192 extreme DUI arrests where suspects had blood alcohol levels that were more than twice the legal limit. They also said 79 people had prior DUI offenses and 43 were arrested for
underage DUI.
