DUI Suspect Caught after Fleeing U.S.
In South Florida, authorities told news sources that they managed to apprehend a man who was wanted for causing a fatal DUI accident. The man allegedly fled to the country of Belize only to return to the U.S. where he was placed under arrest.
On Friday, a judge sentenced the 67-year-old DUI suspect. Back in April, the man had pleaded guilty to one count of vehicular manslaughter and six DUI related offenses. He was set to appear back in court last November, but managed to remove his ankle monitoring device and escape to Belize.
According to officers on the case, the offender had crashed head on into another vehicle that was transporting five people. Three of the five were ejected from the car and one, a 23-year-old female, died from the injuries she suffered during the collision.
