Offender Sentenced for Sixth DUI
An older man was arrested for DUI in DuPage County near Chicago last week. Since this is not his first arrest, he is expected to serve jail time for his
multiple DUI offenses.
Police reports show that the 51-year-old man was detained in December of last year when he was responsible for causing a rear-end collision. To make matters worse, he exited his car and ran away from the accident scene on foot. When officers finally caught up with him, the man's blood-alcohol level was .30, well above the legal limit.
This week the man appeared in court to enter his plea of guilty for aggravated DUI sixth or subsequent violation. Since this is a Class X felony, he was sentenced to nine years behind bars. While some criminal offenders get the chance to reduce their prison sentence based on good behavior, a felony of this class requires that the offender complete at least half of their jail time.
