Police Arrest Agitated DUI Offender
Police in Phoenix, Arizona take drunk driving seriously as was proven by their encounter with one drunk and agitated driver last week.
Around 10:12 p.m. on Monday Prescott police responded to a call about an intoxicated man yelling or singing loudly in his Chevy Blazer. At the time he was sitting in the Walmart parking lot on Highway 69. When the officers arrived 32-year-old Joshua Patrick Neher became agitated. The situation became worse when officers asked him to step out of the vehicle. The Phoenix resident threw up his arms, became aggressive and raised his voice. When an officer attempted to handcuff Neher he fought the officer, striking him in the face with his fist.
Another officer stepped in and was able to get control of Neher. When the suspect was brought to the police station he blew a .138 breath-alcohol content, well over the legal limit of intoxication. Back at the Walmart shopping center police also observed a half-full bottle of rum in the center console and an open bottle of beer.
Neher is now being held in the Yavapai County Jail in Campe Verde on charges of DUI greater than 0.08, resisting arrest and aggravated assault against an officer.
