64 Year Old Woman Dead After DUI Crash
A chain-reaction accident in Peoria led to the death of a 64-year-old woman from Surprise on Saturday.
According to police reports the accident happened around 1 p.m. when a large black SUV, driving southbound on North 83rd, hit a gold passenger car while the car was stopped for a red light. The impact was so great that both cars were sent into the middle of the intersection, causing other cars to become involved in the accident.
While two other patients were taken to a local trauma center the driver of the gold vehicle, Kathleen Petrotta, was pronounced dead at the scene.
James Grunert, the driver of the black SUV, was arrested by the responding officers. He was processed for possible DUI and
drug charges and later released pending his blood results.
