Victor Riches DUI Leads to Bigger Questions
Posted on Jun 20, 2011 3:00pm PDT
After being discovered driving under the influence and being in possession of cocaine, chief of staff Victor Riches was questioned as to whether he should continue his work with the state senate.
Last April Riches was arrested and later pleaded guilty to extreme DUI. However, he was not prosecuted for the cocaine since he was driving a rental car, and his lawyers argued that it was in the vehicle unbeknown to Riches. Now that Riches is eligible to work in the Senate once again, he has the full support of House Speaker Andy Tobin.
Commented on the case, Tobin said he has "full confidence" in Riches ability to be an active member of the staff. Riches has admitted to "his problem" regarding the DUI, but continues to deny any connection to the cocaine.
