Over 600 People Arrested for DUI during Memorial Day Weekend
In the city of Phoenix over the Memorial Day weekend, news sources confirmed that local law enforcement officers arrests over 600 people for driving under the influence. In Arizona, you can be arrested forDUI if you operate while impaired by drugs and/or alcohol and/or if you have a BAC that is 0.08% or higher.
Police say that of the 614 people that were arrested over the holiday, 183 drivers will face charges of extreme DUI. These drivers will face tougher charges and sentencing if convicted because their breath alcohol levels were double 0.08%, the legal limit.
Officers also report that 33 people below the age of 21 will face underage DUI charges and 63 people placed under arrest are facing
multiple DUI charges.
This year's task force was comprised of over 1,800 officers and was quite successful at cracking down on Memorial Day DUI offenders.
