5 Bikers Arrested for BUI in California
In South Los Angeles five bicycle riders were arrested by local law enforcement after they were given field sobriety tests and failed.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Travis Ruiz, police were called to an area where the bikers were riding around 1:30 AM after one biker lost control and crashed into the sidewalk. While the officers were there 15 bicyclists proceeded to check on their friend. The bikers were riding on both sides of the street without helmets and were barely visible to motorists driving by.
Ruiz said that the bikers smelled of alcohol so police conducted field sobriety tests. Five men ages 18 to 22 were placed under arrest and cited for bicycle DUI. They were later released after posting bail. One of the men arrested was the victim. He did not suffer any serious injuries.
