Police Review Video Footage to Make DUI Arrest
Police in Phoenix recently released video footage that showed a car hitting two people in the downtown area. This evidence led them to Christopher Perry, a Phoenix attorney that has since been arrested on suspicion of driving drunk.
As a result of his reckless driving two people, a 59-year-old man and his 60-year-old wife were strike around 2 p.m. last Wednesday while crossing Central Avenue. According to local police the couple was approaching the light rail tracks that run north and south along the avenue when they saw the light rail approaching and turned towards the sidewalk. Yet before they could reach it they were struck by Perry's BMW going northbound on Central Avenue near Lexington Avenue.
Sgt. Steve Martos, a police spokesman, said that the signal indicating that it isn't safe to cross the intersection was blinking at that time. The woman is in critical condition after being thrown onto the light rail tracks; her husband received minor injuries. Martos went on to report that Perry, 53, stopped briefly to look at the victims before he attempted to flee the scene. However stopped traffic on Central Avenue allowed police officers to chase him down and quickly detain him.
