Man Gets 20 Years for Four Felony DUI Counts
This week in Phoenix a man was sentenced to 20 years of prison after he pled guilty to four felony counts of driving under the influence. A while back the man was placed under arrest by police for driving with an alcoholic beverage in his hand and for having an infant riding on his lap.
58-year-old Jack Mizer's most recent criminal offense occurred while he was under court order not to drive while drinking from a previous DUI case.
Police say that in February 2010, the defendant was pulled over because officers saw his truck merge into a bike lane and drift into two other traffic lanes. After taking his breath test, it was revealed that his blood alcohol level was .293 percent. He was released after posting $25,000 and just 17 days later he was arrested again for aggravated DUI.
Since 1992, Mizer has had five other felony DUI convictions. One incident included an infant. Police say that his driver's license has been revoked numerous times since the 1980s and that he has been sentenced to two consecutive 10 year terms for his recent offense.
