Vans Purchased for DUI Enforcement
Police officers in Phoenix, Arizona are looking forward to having some extra help cracking down on drunk drivers over the holidays. The city of Phoenix purchased six new vans that will be used solely for processing DUIs. City officials are expected to reveal the new vehicles at a press conference this week.
Since the vans cost a total of $1 million, taxpayers are anxious to see just how their tax dollars were spent. Once these vans have been used for a while and prove to reduce DUI arrests and accidents, they are likely to become the prototype for other agencies across the state as well.
According to one officer, the vans were designed by fellow police officers to aid law enforcement. The same officer went on to say that he advises everyone, including friends and family, that they should not drink and drive. Even having one drink can impair your driving and it can certainly land you with a DUI.
