Basketball Player Avoids Jail Time for DUI

A Detroit, Michigan basketball player is lucky to have avoided jail time for a DUI arrest earlier this year. Based on the DUI arrest as well as gun possession charges, he could have spent at least 93 days behind bars.
The 37-year-old player went before a judge in Oakland County last week to receive his sentence. The player let his attorney do all the talking for him during the brief session with the judge. In exchange for pleading guilty to the charges against him, the basketball player was given one year probation instead of jail time.
When the player was arrested in September, he was found to have a blood-alcohol level of 0.14 percent, well above the state legal limit. He was also in possession of an unloaded gun in his vehicle.
