Phoenix Ranks High for Most DUI Offenders

According to insurance.com, the city of Phoenix ranks among the top cities in the nation for driving under the influence offenses.

The website says that Phoenix ranks behind San Diego, San Jose and Charlotte and is on the list of cities with the most drunk drivers.  The report indicates that the top cities have more drinkers in general as well as less public transportation and better enforcement of DUI laws.

Officer Bob Bailey of the Arizona Department of Public Safety tends to agree.  He said, "What we've got is some very successful DUI task forces that apprehend a lot of impaired drivers around the Valley."  He also said, "Our tough DUI laws in Arizona, our tough enforcement, hopefully helps people to change their minds and have someone drive them or call a taxi."

Additionally, another reason the city of Phoenix ranks so high is its size and population said Bailey.  He said that it is really up to drivers to decide whether or not they will drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
