Nikolai Khabibulin Sentenced with 30 Days of Jail for DUI
Recently, former Phoenix Coyote goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin was sentenced with a minimum 30 day jail sentence after being found guilty of extreme DUI. He was also ordered to pay $1,507.60 in fines and will have to participate in an alcohol program. Khabibulin was sentenced in Scottsdale Municipal Court.
Even though jail time was ordered, it is reported that Khabibulin will not start serving his sentence as his lawyer filed an immediate appeal.
On February 8, Khabibulin was arrested for driving under the influence on North Scottsdale Road. His blood alcohol level was tested at .164 percent, which is over twice the state's legal limit.
Khabibulin's trial was held on August 24th and including testimony from the officer that arrested him, a criminalist that analyzed his blood tests and a forensic toxicologist. Despite testimony from experts, Khabibulin was still found guilty by Judge B. Monte Morgan.
