Man Gets 11 Years after DUI Accident Death
In San Diego, a 52-year-old man received a sentence of 11 years in prison for running over a woman while driving under the influence and then fleeing the scene of the accident.
During his court hearing, Bruce Hanson took the time to apologize to the mother and two sisters of victim Alejandra Vazquez who was 35 years old when she was hit by Hanson. He struggled to maintain his composure and said that he had made a "horrible decision" to drive the evening the DUI accident took place. Hanson also said that after the accident he panicked and fled the scene.
Vazquez was killed on February 19th. She had stepped outside of her vehicle on Market Street to get something from her back seat when she was hit by Hanson's vehicle, which was operating between 40 and 50 mph.
