In Arizona, 29 year old Jessica Wayas was placed under arrest for driving under the influence (DUI). Police arrested Wayas after she drove into a pickup truck with her two children in her vehicle. Police say that she was driving with her 5 year old daughter and 6 year old son as passengers when she crashed into a pickup driven by a 71 year old man.
Wayas was arrested for suspicion of two counts of aggravated DUI, two counts of child abuse, aggravated assault and felony criminal damage.
According to investigators, Wayas' Ford Mustang swerved and then crashed into the pickup. Wayas suffered injuries and so did her two children who were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the DUI accident. Her son was treated for cuts and her daughter suffered head injuries. After Wayas' arrest, the girl was handed over to Children's Protective Services.
The other driver had to be rushed to the hospital due to severe chest pains and had to undergo open heart surgery.
